About--Miss Greek

Fraternities and sororities regularly host and participate in philanthropic events with each other as a way to serve the community. In 1986 Chris Chan and fellow Delta Tau Delta undergraduates wanted to find an innovative way to support the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center that included the sorority women. In order to achieve this goal, the Miss Greek Pageant was born.

Each Sorority selects a sister to represent her house. Months prior to the pageant she begins working with her house and Delta Tau Delta to raise awareness, fundraise and prepare for the pageant. Delt undergraduates also begin to fundraise, raise awareness and support the pageant contestants.

The months of preparation culminate in April at the annual Miss Greek Pageant. It is held in Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus, and is always filled with the supporters of each sorority representative. It is a chance to showcase her talents, personality, passions, and share her insight on the meaning of philanthropy. A panel of judges determines the winner based upon the following criteria: fundraising, talent, philanthropic address, and personality.

If not for the strong support and participation of the sorority women here at the University of Washington, this event would not be possible. The Men of Delta Tau Delta would like to thank them for all their support over the years.
